Trainer says: "She's got over her run at Cambridge. She's in good nick, her coats great and she's lost weight. We had her on the heavy side because she was having a long trip to get here. If she gets a run she'll be hard to beat."
Comment: A classy mare that's likely to get a drag into the race at some stage. Has won the more races than anything else in the field and carries the Jewels colours. Despite the draw, Southland's best winning chance.

Trainer says: "He's travelled up well with Dad's horses. He's never galloped from the mobile and from the draw, it would be good to go to the front as he sticks on well. With Springbank Sam and Paramount Gee Gee on the second row it evens things out. Kylie Ree will be hard to beat."
Comment: A good mannered horse with a good draw. Could run a place with the right trip.

Comment: Faces a tough bunch of talented fillies. If there are plenty of moves and she can tack onto the right one, she could run in the first five.

Trainer says: "She arrived in Cambridge today (Tuesday) after being held up by the Cook Strait ferry. Tracee gave her a fifteen minute jog today and she was bright as a button. Horses one, two and three in our race should provide some fireworks and she (Ask McArdle) could slot in. She's better following speed than setting it."
Comment: Gets a nice draw and isn't too far outside the top bracket but will require some luck.

Trainer says: "I'm very happy with him. He's bucking and kicking around the place. He worked very well this morning (Tuesday) on a wet track which he normally doesn't like. He'll hold his own from the gate. Ima Gold Digger, I Can Doosit and Dr Hook have drawn wide or on the second line so that'll help. He can be a bit funny over the first 150 metres but he's starting to concentrate now and grow up."
Comment: Was always going to Auckland but not for the Jewels. He'll find this tough but will grow from the experience.

Trainer says: "He's very well - full of himself. He's had a sore back but we've got a chiropractor to fix that. He had his last hopple run this morning (Tuesday) and I'll give him a good gallop on Thursday. It's not the best draw but the first two favourites (Tintin In America and Sleepy Tripp) have drawn the second row."
Comment: Seems to be coming right at the right time. This will be a cracker of a race and if he can get on the back of the right horse he could run a place.

The depth of the Southland breeding industry will also be on show at Saturday's Harness Jewels.
Russley Rascal, Le Sol, Meldora and Springbank Sam are owned or part-owned by Southlanders while Highview Ebony, Ohoka Bondy, Highview Tommy, Spero Denario and Beaudiene Christian were all bred in the south.
