Southland OTB Trials at Ascot Park Wednesday 18th January 2012.

 

Beaudiene Beyonce enhanced her chances for early season two year old fillies’ races by winning the 1700 metres event for the juvenile girls. Stable mate Just Gorgeous went to the line hard held to run second. She looks the pick of the Hamish Hunter two year old fillies.

Jaccka Opie easily qualified in the mobile qualifying heat. He’s a three year old by Artsplace out of Our Jaccka the winner of five races. He’s trained by Brett Gray and beat Jaccka Peter by two lengths in 2-49.9 – five seconds under the required qualifying time.

Liam Sienna looked strong in winning the second two year old heat. He led at workout pace sprinting home in 58.5. He’s a nice type by Elsu but is still a bit green. He qualified last week and on Wednesday helped Kates Bush (2 yr old filly Washington VC – Ace’s Win) and Highview Robyn (2 yr old filly Bettor’s Delight – Star Traveller) to qualify.

Kilbirnie North View was scrubbed up to win his qualifying heat by seven lengths just within the required time.

Regal Image just beat a late charge from Lewis H to win the trotters heat while Cuddlecam which settled third early got up to win the non winners mobile and he looks handy. The second non winners heat was won by Captain Delight. He’s disappointed in two race day starts but looked capable in winning after this trial.

Elation Franco was too classy for Bettor’s Brigadier winning by two and a half lengths in the last heat. Bettor’s Brigadier has been a bit wayward but looked to have improved for his next race day start. Elation Franco looks capable of being competitive in the Southern Belle Speed Series.
