Qualifying Pace 2400 metres (required time - 3-14.0)

 

As expected Panamach won and qualified in the first qualifying heat. The three year old Mach Three gelding was in the open early, and trailed from the 1700 metres. He ran four wide from the top of the straight, proving too strong in the run home. He was timed to run his last 800 metres in 58.1 with his winning time 3-07.0. The Farmer finished second and looked more comfortable this week in a trailling position. He ran to the line easily in 3-07.1. Kennedy Jaccka, which lead for most of the trip was three lengths back in third with Sevenspanishangels fourth. 

Panamach is by Panorama out of Panadoll which is a half sister to Joyfulbelle the winner of eight races. The Farmer is a three year old by Elsu and is a half brother to Prattle On. He's part owned by Bev Grant who's owned many nice horses including Can Annie Go, Annie's Boy and Washington Seattle. Kennedy Jaccka is the first foal out of Key Jaccka - a Falcon Seelster mare which won two races.  

  

Qualifying Pace 2400 metres (required time 3-14.0)

 

There were no qualifiers in this heat. PJ Squeak lead early. Hana Maria trailed and won from Art Asset.

 

 Qualifying Mobile 2400 metres (required time - 3-11.0)

 

This heat featured plenty of nice runs. Elmer Fudd lead early before stablemate Blackleugh took over. Elmer Fudd received a nice trip behind the leader and ran on to win from Blackleugh with Ponting running on nicely for third. The best bred horse in the heat Treaty (Mach Three - Whanau) produced perhaps the best run. He was off the pace early, caught flat footed at the 1000 metre and was timed to run his last 800 metres in 56.6 to finish 4th. Alpine Andy's run was equally impressive running his last 800 metres in 56.7. He finished fifth. also qualifying. He is part owned by Alistair Mackintosh father of Stags captain Jamie Mackintosh. 

Elmer Fudd and Blackleugh are both colts by Life Sign out of half sisters (Denice's Dream and Vera's Rose). Breeder Bruce Stirling shares ownership in both. Ponting is a half brother to Arden's Highlander.

 

Mobile Pace 2400 metres (Up to 1 win)

 

The Alan Paisley trained Donna's X Factor an impressive qualifier at Gore, carried her trials form to Wyndham. She was second last early before coming down the outside to win easily. She was timed to run her last 800 metres in 57.1. Matai Denny ran home well for second with stablemate Newcombe finishing third.   

 

Mobile Pace 2400 metres (non winners)

 

Georgi Boy, also trained by Paisley was very impressive in winning this heat. He was ten lengths off the mobile dispatch at the start settling last. Driver Carl Hanna bought him wide at the top of the straight and he won nicely - running the 2400 metres post to post in 3-05.0. His last 800 metres was timed in 56.7. Jade Bromac was second with Domino Bromac third. 

 

Pace 2400 metre (non winners)

 

This three horse heat included trotter Emily Jaccka. Kai Clutha Connexion lead all the way to beat a game Emily Jaccka with early breaker Gundaguy running third.
